The John Coleman hotel in Essendon has undergone an identity change to
become the Grand Hotel. With a change of name comes a complete renewal
of the historic facade and reinvention of this popular landmark building.
This conversion resulted in 8 shop tenancies, namely cafes and restaurants
on the ground level and 46 fully furnished apartments - 13 of which are
potential dual-occupancy over the ground floor and the 3 upper levels.
There is ample parking on both the suspended ground floor level and in
the basement car park and the project features large saw-tooth balconies
overlooking internal courtyards. Given the complexity of the design and
construction procedures underpinning this development, the Grand Hotel
looks certain to live up to its name.
